THIS was the scene over the Clyde as Glasgow embraced "thundersnow storms", causing major upheaval in the city.

Photographer Roddy Scott captured these spectacular images of the snow yesterday morning using a drone as most towns in Glasgow woke up to a winter wonderland.

Roddy received positive feedback as his photographs were launched onto social media for the entire city to see.

He said: "I thought it was a very interesting spot to show just how much snow there was. There weren't many photos that showed off the snow in that way.

"I've worked on many pictures of the weather but I thought it would be a particularly great time to go and get some photographs."

Social media boomed with snowy pictures yesterday morning as many tried to make their way to work.

Meanwhile, the heavy snow forced a Royal Navy helicopter to intervene when an ambulance got stuck on its way to help an unconscious toddler.

The helicopter transported the one-year-old, from Whisgills in the Borders to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle where he was treated.

On Wednesday night the Met Office issued a yellow "be aware" warning for all of Scotland as heavy snow fell during the night and into yesterday morning.

Drivers are also being told to plan their journeys and leave in extra time in case of disruption. Motorists have also to remain cautious about black ice on the roads.

The warning remains in place today for the whole of Scotland and the west is warned for more snowfall into Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
