A Scottish Premiership club is aiming to raise money for a breast cancer charity through a sponsorship scheme.

The seats in the dugouts at Partick Thistle's Firhill Stadium in Glasgow have been branded with the Breast Cancer Care Scotland logo and will stay in place for at least two years.

The club now hope to attract sponsors to add their name to some of the 28 seats as a cost of £1,500 for businesses and £1,000 for individuals.

Five sponsors have already signed up to the scheme and the club aim to raise around £40,000 to support work done by the cancer charity.

Partick's managing director Ian Maxwell said he was proud to be working with the charity.

"While money is obviously important to the club, as an organisation we have a very strong social conscience," he said.

"This is why we have decided to donate all money raised through this sponsorship to charity.

"There will be many of our fans, and players, whose lives have been touched by breast cancer and we hope this initiative will raise funds and awareness to help fight breast cancer in both men and women."

Gillian Hamilton, area fundraising manager for Breast Cancer Care Scotland, said: "We are delighted to have been chosen as Partick Thistle's beneficiary charity of this creative and unique fundraising idea.

"The funds raised will go towards offering vital support to the 42,000 who wake up to the harsh reality of breast cancer every day in Scotland."
