After months of hard work, unstoppable training and dedication, the Scottish judo team that will be competing for gold at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 2014 has finally been announced.

I had a good understanding of the points system and I even knew some of the judo jargon in Japanese, but I had never stepped into a tatami (judo mat) or tried on a judogi (judo uniform).
