Competitors travelled to the idyllic Kockburn Sports Loch, in Aberdeenshire, for the third Scottish Triathlon Champion event of the season.
Triathletes invaded the venue on May 24 for a dress rehearsal of the course. The loch has previously drawn criticism for the high levels of blue-green algae. Regulating the water quality has been a key preparation to get the park into shape for the summer.
On average the 26-year-old from Irvine represents Great Britain up to six times a year but he has yet to race for Scotland.
Triathlon may not be the country's strongest sport but Scotland always loves rooting for an underdog.
Perhaps it's the challenge of three sports rolled into one event that has enticed the country. The basic format is a swim, cycle and run, one after the other, but things can be made interesting by the varying of conditions and distances.
