LINGERIE boss Michelle Mone has backed a Glasgow boy's campaign to tackle the disease that has crippled his mum.

The bra tycoon and Scots entrepreneur Sir Tom Hunter have joined a list of celebrities supporting Ryan McLaughlin, whose mother suffers from multiple sclerosis.

The 14-year-old, from Drumchapel, is leading a campaign for pregnant women and young children in Scotland to be given vitamin D supplements.

Scientists believe extra doses could prevent up to 80% of multiple sclerosis cases.

Ryan was determined to tackle the disease that has devastated his mum, former Tae Kwon Do champion Kirsten, 34.

On June 16, the teenager will dress as William Wallace and lead 500 children with Saltires painted on their faces on a mile-long march to the Scottish Parliament.

He will lodge a petition calling for vitamin D to be given in the form of pills, fortified milk or bread to expectant mums and children.

The campaign has also attracted the support of author J.K Rowling, Rab C Nesbitt actress Kathleen McDermott and former Justice Minister Cathy Jamieson.

Tom Hunter said: "I am delighted to lend my support to Ryan's cause.

"Ryan should make every Scot proud for his championing of this cause and it's potential help in targeting this appalling disease. Good luck and I hope your campaign wins the day."
