ABOUT 2000 pupils from Glasgow schools trekked around Bellahouston Park when they took part in the 11th 5K Go Yellow walk in aid of the Prince And Princess Of Wales Hospice.

The hospice is being backed by the Evening Times in its Brick by Brick campaign to raise a total of £15million to build a new purpose-built facility next to the Park.

This year the 5K was supported by Glasgow Taxis Ltd, a long-standing supporter of the hospice.

As well as handing out merchandise to the youngsters participating, the taxi firm also supplied their branded Prince And Princess Of Wales Hospice taxi for the afternoon.

The company's mascot, Ivor The Driver, entertained children throughout the day and also took part in a mascot race between the hospice's Harvey The Heart and a number of other organisations' mascots.

As well as the five-kilometre challenge, the pupils enjoyed a selection of fun activities celebrating the outdoors, including, football, rugby, netball, cheerleading and golf, all inside the park grounds.

Karen Hattie, community fundraiser at the hospice, said: "It is always a great day out for the school children.

"With an abundance of activities, it was a fantastic way for them to celebrate nearing the end of term, whilst learning about the crucial work of the hospice."

Stephen Flynn, who is the vice-chairman of Glasgow Taxis Ltd, said: "This event was a brilliant opportunity for children to compete in a healthy challenge with their friends whilst also raising funds for the charity.

"We enjoyed the day and helping the pupils as they raised money for an excellent cause."

THE Prince And Princess Of Wales Hospice in Glasgow provides specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting illnesses and support for their families and carers.

Space at their present home, at Carlton Place, Gorbals, is limited and there is a pressing need to relocate to a purpose-built facility.

The new hospice, on a proposed site next to Bellahouston Park, will provide 16 single rooms for in-patients, with dedicated access to their own outdoor space.

THE BRICK BY BRICK CAMPAIGN

THE Prince And Princess Of Wales Hospice in Glasgow provides specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting illnesses and support for their families and carers.

Space at their present home, at Carlton Place, Gorbals, is limited and there is a pressing need to relocate to a purpose-built facility.

The new hospice, on a proposed site next to Bellahouston Park, will provide 16 single rooms for in-patients, with dedicated access to their own outdoor space.

It will also, for the first time, provide care for young people aged 15 and over.

Out-patient services will be greatly expanded, with a dedicated area for young people and more facilities for patients.

Our Brick By Brick campaign needs to raise £15million for this building, but we can't do it without you.
