BRITISH gymnasts took the Commonwealth Gymnastics Grand Prix by storm at the weekend with a six-medal haul.

BRITISH gymnasts took the Commonwealth Gymnastics Grand Prix by storm at the weekend with a six-medal haul.

Double European champion Beth Tweddle triumphed with two golds at the event in the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow - one on asymmetric bars and the other on the floor.

Olympic bronze winner Louis Smith won gold on the pommel horse, with young Scot Daniel Keatings picking up the bronze in the event.

And Becky Downie and Kristian Thomas both won silver medals - on the asymmetric bars and the floor, respectively.

Hundreds of supporters turned out to watch the two-day event.

Liz Cameron, chair of Culture and Sport Glasgow, said: "Once again the Glasgow Grand Prix has been a wonderful success. The gymnasts excelled and are worthy winners of the medals they achieved."

Brazil's Diego Hypolito won gold on vault and floor and Dutchman Yuri van Gelder took gold on the rings.
