EIGHTY jobs at one of Scotland's leading outdoor sportswear retailers have been saved by two Scots businessmen.
Nevisport, which has a branch in Glasgow's Sauchiehall Street, has been snapped up by Trespass outdoor clothing firm owners Afkal and Akmal Khushi.
The Fort William-based store went into liquidation and was bought out by the brothers, who run international sportswear company Jacobs & Turner which is based at Kinning Park.
The Khushis, who are worth around £105million, have bought six remaining Nevisport stores in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Fort William, Aviemore, York and Middlesbrough.
The Evening Times can reveal that the flagship store in Sauchiehall Street will reopen as Nevisport next week. Jacobs & Turner said the store was bought over in a separate deal.
Jacobs & Turner has more than 20 stores around Britain and opened a store in Xscape at Braehead.
Nevisport blamed poor sales brought on by difficult trading and unseasonable weather for the liquidation.
Joint KPMG liquidator Blair Nimmo said: "I am delighted we have managed to sell the business as a going concern.
"Not only has this saved jobs, but it ensures existing customers will continue to be serviced and suppliers will have ongoing business."
