SINGER Edward Reid is adding his voice to a Christmas single to raise cash for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice.

The Britain's Got Talent semi-finalist and Big Hearted Scotland Entertainer of the Year will be helping the 40-strong Glasgow Choir at Vivace Theatre School add a modern twist to Slade's Merry Christmas Everybody.

Edward said: "I love the idea of a community choir as it allows people to access music through their own voice.

"I feel very honoured to be asked to sing with the Vivace Show Choir.

"I think we will get the Christmas jingle bells ringing with this song."

Available to download from December 5 on Amazon and iTunes, the single will raise funds for the hospice's Brick by Brick appeal, backed by the Evening Times, to find the remaining £15 million of the £20m needed to build a brand new facility at Bellahouston Park.

It will offer improved services and let the hospice lower the age limit to patients it treats to those aged 15 and above.

Under the instruction of Alison Rona Cleland, a talented performer who recently played Kathy in the professional production of Company, the choir is making excellent progress and keen to use singing to benefit others.

Lisa Wilson, 34, from Rutherglen joined the choir in August.

She said: "I can't believe all that has happened in such a short time.

"I am so excited to be working with Edward."

The choir is being supported in the project by Glasgow's Star for a Day recording studios.

The making of the single is being filmed by upcoming talent Adrian Rybarczyk.

He said: "It will be an experience to document the choir's journey.

"They want to use their time to help other people and their enthusiasm is infectious."
