UNDER starter's orders ...
singing supremo Edward Reid, Capital FM's Des Clarke and River City actor Gary Lamont are getting ready for the Men's 5K at Bellahouston Park in June.
The three limbered up yesterday to launch the event, which will raise funds for Glasgow's Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice Brick by Brick Appeal, supported by the Evening Times.
The race starts near to the site of the hospice's new build in Bellahouston Park.
As the three tied the laces on their trainers and donned running gear, they encouraged other men to follow their lead.
Des Clarke said: "The journey the hospice is on to build a new home is nothing compared to a 5K. We're privileged to be taking part."
Edward is up for the challenge and hope he will inspire others to do the same. He said: "Doing a 5K is a great challenge. I plan to tap dance my way around."
Gary Lamont added: "You can see we're laughing now, but on the day we'll be petrified. But it's all for a really good cause and I can't wait."
Comic Des is also hosting a Grub & Giggle after the run on June 14. He'll perform a stand-up routine for the amount of time it takes him to complete the race.
"I don't know if they'll let me get a wash first, but it's an opportunity for a celebration, to have something to eat and laugh off all the pain," he said.
A family 3K race will also take place on the day and offers an opportunity for children aged up to 15 to raise money for the hospice. The running festival also has a 10K event on June 15.
