TONIGHT is the night for North-East stars to shine as our local heroes have their moment in the spotlight.

The roll call of contenders for the Community Champion awards 2015 will take to the stage at Barmulloch Community Centre, in the first round of the year-long event that recognises those who go the extra mile for their neighbours, friends and family.

Evening Times columnist and East End girl Michelle McManus will be compering the night and providing entertainment. Evening Times editor Tony Carlin, said: "The Evening Times' motto is Nobody Knows Glasgow Better. Not only do we report on the news, good and bad, that affects our city, we, like so many of our nominees, fight and campaign to make it better."
