GLASGOW'S grand city chambers was buzzing with the chatter of our community champions.

This year's finale of the Evening Times Community Champions took place in the heart of the city with the splendid banqueting hall setting the scene for the celebrations.

Volunteers, community groups, public service workers and members of the public, young and old, gathered to find out who would be crowned winners - but everyone agreed all the unsung heroes went above and beyond with their tireless work for others.

The atmosphere in the audience was electric as nominees danced, laughed and cheered on their fellow community champions.

Jimmy Wilson, Services Manager at FARE, summed up the mood when he said: "Regardless of whoever wins, everyone is happy to be here."

Nominees had the chance to meet up with organisations they hadn't come into contact with before and everyone was delighted to be there and soak up the atmosphere.

Nicky Thomson, chief executive officer at the Good Morning Service, said it was "lovely" to see "every section" of the community represented.
