PEOPLE are being given more time to make their views known about organ donation laws in Scotland.
A consultation on the proposed Organ and Tissue Donation (Scotland) Bill, put forward by Glasgow MSP Anne McTaggart, has been extended for a further four weeks.
The Labour politi-cian is calling for a switch to an opt-out system, on the back of the Evening Times' award-winning Opt for Life campaign.
The MSP was asked to extend the consul-tation by several individuals and groups and contributions will now be taken until 5pm on October 23.
Hundreds of responses have been received so far with early indications suggesting most Scots would be in favour of a shift to a system of deemed consent.
Under the system, people are required to opt-out if they do not want to donate organs after death.
Charities including the British Heart Foundation back the change.
