PEOPLE of all ages are getting involved in Streets Ahead.

From schoolchildren to pensioners, the city's communities have rallied in support of our campaign since it began in 2011.

To thank them for their efforts, GHA has lined up an array of festive events and activities across Glasgow.

One of the brightest and busiest Christmas parties hosted by GHA this year took place at Linburn School

Linburn Academy is a secondary school for pupils with additional support needs arising from complex learning difficulties.

GHA's local committee applied to GHA's Better Lives fund to support the party for all 40 pupils.

The housing association also threw a Christmas party for pensioners on the south side, bringing together older tenants in the area, many of whom live alone or will spend Christmas without family and friends.

Around 115 tenants joined in the fun at the South Western Social And Recreation Club, which included a three-course lunch, live band, bingo and a raffle.

Hampers are being distributed across the south side to help families in need.

Volunteers from across GHA - including neighbourhood environmental teams, staff from local offices as well as the South Area Team - joined tenants to help prepare goodie bags packed with festive food and treats at the New Shaws office at the end of November.

Items included in the bags included tins of food, chocolate treats, Christmas decorations and a gift voucher so families can make sure their kids don't miss out over the festive season.

The hampers will be delivered by housing officers to more than 400 tenants in time for Christmas.

Kate Willis, chairwoman of GHA's South Area Committee, said: "I'm delighted we can provide a little something for families who might need some extra help at this time of year.

"It's important we do what we can to make sure our tenants can enjoy the festive period - and I hope these bags provide a little Christmas cheer."

Some of the bags were also donated to StarterPacks, the charity which supplies packs of useful items for homeless people moving into permanent accommodation.
