SOLAR panels, heat pumps and LED lighting are being offered to make one Glasgow school more eco-friendly.

Entries are flooding in for our Streets Ahead schools competition.

So if you want your school to be in with a chance of winning an eco -makeover worth up to £100,000, make sure you apply now.

The Evening Times campaign, which helps people improve their communities, has once again teamed up with British Gas to offer one lucky school the chance of a lifetime.

The winning school could receive up to £100,000 of equipment and new technology, including solar panels, advanced room thermostats, heat pumps and LED lighting.

All schools in Glasgow are eligible to enter the contest, part of the utility firm's Generation Green education programme, designed to help schools save energy and cut bills.

All you have to do is tell us why, in no more than 100 words, your school deserves to win.

Last year's winner, St Albert's Primary in Pollokshields, is already counting the benefits of its energy makeover, with savings on its fuel bills of an incredible 66%.

Richard Brook, manager of British Gas Generation Green said: "We're thrilled to be able to make this investment to help a school in Glasgow become one of the most energy efficient in the country. "

He added: "Helping schools to reduce their energy use and inspiring the next generation to be curious about the future of energy is what we do at British Gas Generation Green, so we hope that this energy makeover will not only help reduce energy bills, but also give the pupils at the winning school an exciting way of learning about being sustainable, and sharing what they learn with their community.

The team behind Generation Green believe it's a great fit for Streets Ahead.

Richard added: "Both initiatives are about encouraging people to think about their environments and how to improve them for the benefit of everyone."
