THE sister of Celtic star Scott Brown has died of cancer at the age of 21.

THE sister of Celtic star Scott Brown has died of cancer at the age of 21.

The club confirmed today that Fiona Brown had lost her long battle against the disease. Scott and the rest of the family have been left devastated by the loss.

The 22-year-old footballer, younger brother Stewart, 20, and mum Heather, 46, who live in the Fife village of Hill of Beath, have asked for privacy as they come to terms with the tragedy.

A club spokesman said today: "It is with great sadness that Celtic Football Club announced that Scott Brown's sister Fiona has passed away after a long battle against cancer.

"The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Celtic are with Scott and his family at this difficult time.

"Clearly, Scott and his family will be receiving every support from the club."

The midfielder was left out of George Burley's Scotland squad for the friendly against the Czech Republic tomorrow.

He secured a £4.4million move from Edinburgh club Hibs to Celtic in May last year.
