However, the Welsh full-back believes resilience is a necessary part of their armoury and can again be brought into play as they pick themselves up for tonight's game against Kilmarnock.

The 21-year-old said: "Everyone wants to beat us, and they step their game up. St Mirren did that on Sunday,

"We can't dwell on losing because we have big games coming up and have to be right for them."

Kilmarnock shocked Celtic when they met in last season's League Cup final. They have also won at Parkhead this season.

Matthews said: "That's an extra incentive because we don't like to be beaten, especially at home."
