Celtic have announced a partnership with prestigious Dublin boys' club, St Joseph's, with the aim of capturing players that will go into Parkhead first-teams of the future.

The Parkhead side have confirmed the deal which they are optimistic will bear fruit throughout the years.

"Celtic's links to Ireland are everlasting and we are delighted, through this exciting initiative with St Joseph's, to further strengthen this bond," said Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell.

"We are sure this will be a fruitful partnership for both clubs, allowing a transfer of skills and knowledge and a sharing of ideas. St Joseph's is one of the great names in Irish youth football and we are very excited about teaming up with such a great institution.

"Our Irish origins are extremely important to us and, like this project, we will continue to look at a variety of ways where we can promote, celebrate and enhance such a positive and meaningful connection."

The head of Celtic's youth academy, Chris McCart, was equally enthusiastic.

"Celtic FC Academy is very excited at the prospect of working closely with St Joseph's Boys Club and forging strong links," he said.

"Like ourselves St Joseph's has an excellent reputation in identifying, developing and nurturing young footballers to reach their potential."
