That would effectively rule him out of at least a starting spot against the Italian cracks on Tuesday night, as he would only arrive back in Scotland on Monday at the very earliest.

Jonas Olsson levelled for the hosts 15 minutes later, but goals from Sergio Aguero and Higuain made Rasmus Elm's 95th-minute strike meaningless.

Elsewhere, England recorded their first win over Brazil for 23 years after a 2-1 victory at Wembley.

And it was the Barca boys to the rescue for Spain as a Cesc Fabregas goal and a Pedro brace was enough to beat Uruguay 3-1 as Holland and Italy drew 1-1.
