CELTIC boss Neil Lennon reckons victory over Elfsborg this week could open the door for two more top class strike recruits.

This week Ajax winger Derk Boerrigter became the Hoops' latest signing on a deal of around £2million and the Dutchman should make his debut in today's SPFL Premiership opener against Ross County.

However, Lennon is still in the market for more frontline firepower and progression to the Champions League play-off round - and only two games from the elite group stage - would make Celtic a more attractive proposition.

The gaffer has already been laying the groundwork on further moves to add signings to his side and that could mean a raid south of the border for Wolves striker Kevin Doyle.

Lennon said: "If we can progress then it might create more options for us in that area.

"We're looking at bringing in a couple of good quality strikers if we can.

"We're working away and really no further forward than we were the previously. Probably nothing will materialise until after the game on Wednesday I would imagine."

Singling out Doyle, Lennon added: "We did like him in January. That's not changed, but he's just an option. It's just all speculation at the minute. There's been no firm offer for him."

The Celtic manager also revealed that there had been no further bid for defender Kelvin Wilson from Nottingham Forest and Lennon remains hopeful that the big stopper will stay at Parkhead.

He said: "It's as you were. Kelvin played very well Wednesday despite it being an unsettling phase of the month for him. But there has been no further bid.

"I hope he'll stay. He's a top player, a very important player. We've already lost two. I'd be very reluctant to lose another but you just don't know in football.

"But Kelvin is a doubt for today. He's got shin splint problems. We're hoping he'll be okay."

Turning his attention to the unfurling of last season's SPL championship flag at Parkhead today ahead of the visit of Ross County, Lennon admitted he is excited about the start of the league marathon.

The Celtic manager said: "Yes, of course I'm excited about it. It's been a shorter break so I wouldn't say it's as fresh as normal seasons are because of being back so early, but I'm very much looking forward to it.

"It's a big day, a significant day for us because it signifies the achievement of winning the league last season.

"John Keane (Celtic chairman) is unfurling the flag, which will be brilliant for him, a very valued member of the club. I'm looking forward to the moment."

Lennon admits he can't wait to hand Hoops new boy Boerrigter his debut this afternoon.

He said: "He is fit so he is definitely in contention to start. Derk is looking good and we are excited about that one.

"It gives the squad some freshness and gives the team a bit of a jag. That is always good."

However, the Hoops boss admits he has a string of injury concerns ahead of the County clash.

Lennon said: "We'll try and be as strong as we can but there are a few injury doubts.

"Big Sami, Kelvin, Jamesy (James Forrest), Mikael Lustig as well. Tom Rogic's out as well. He's still got an ankle problem."
