CELTIC flop Teemu Pukki admits he is desperate to rebuild his shattered confidence after penning a deal with Danish side Brondby.

Pukki, a £3million signing from Schalke in the summer of 2013 by former boss Neil Lennon, has found the net just nine times for the Hoops since arriving on a four-year contract.

He has struggled to nail down a first-team berth at Parkhead and, despite enjoying a bright start to this season under Ronny Deila with two goals in Europe against KR Reykjavik, he has disappointed in the league.

Now Pukki says he is desperate to rebuild his self-belief and reputation in Denmark as he looks to impress during a season-long loan spell at the Brondby Stadium.

"I think this is a great chance for me to play, to get goals and to get my confidence back," said the Finland international. "This is very important for me.

"As a striker, you need to play and you need to score goals, and that is what I hope to do. I believe I do have the skills to do that with Brondby.

"I also want to help the team during an important season. I spoke to my international team-mate Lucas [Hradecky], who is also here, and he said great things about the club.

"He called me straight away and said I should come here and spoke about how well the team is playing and how good the fans are. It seems like the perfect move for me."

Pukki was immediately handed the No.9 jersey by Brondby and is expected to make his debut against Randers on September 14.

Holmbert Fridjonsson, who also joined the Superliga outfit on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season, will be in contention for that fixture.
