RONNY DEILA will today check to confirm Kris Commons has suffered no reaction after making his comeback following seven weeks out injured.

The Celtic boss hopes to receive a clean bill of health about the 31-year-old, who was replaced just before the hour mark in Saturday's 2-1 win over Dundee.

Commons had been sidelined with an upper thigh muscle strain and has missed several key games, including Europa League matches.

But Deila is hopeful he will be fit to come into contention for Thursday's tie against Salzburg, in which a win for the Hoops would take them through to the last 32 when, of course, John Guidetti would become eligible to play.

Commons - who has netted five times this term - acknowledges that the Swedish striker's absence from the group stage games is a blow.

But, even with Guidetti there to grab the second goal against Dundee - his 10th for the club who hope to sign him in January on a permanent deal - the league leaders found the 90 minutes a struggle.

Commons said: "In patches we were okay, and I think Dundee were good for their goal, maybe even more.

"We got a little bit sloppy in the last 15 minutes or so, and we were not quite at the races towards the end.

"But I'm sure we will be more than ready for Thursday night against Salzburg. There's no doubt they are a good side.

"We have another week of training ahead of us and we'll need to work hard to get the better of them."

Commons hopes he has done enough to convince Deila he is ready to play his part in what could be another memorable night at Parkhead.

He told the club's website: "It was nice to get some minutes on the park.

"I'm feeling good and it's all about getting that match sharpness back now where you are seeing passes and seeing runners in the team."
