Celtic have had an offer for midfielder Stuart Armstrong dismissed by Dundee United.
The 22-year-old was the subject of bids from Celtic and Burnley yesterday afternoon, with Celtic believed to have offered around £1.5million for the Scotland under-21 internationalist.
United, though, have knocked back both of the offers, and are believed to be holding out for their valuation of the player, which is estimated to be £2.5m.
A United spokesman said: "Neither of these bids is anywhere close to our valuation. Neither bid is nearly close enough to consider."
Armstrong has won 20 caps for Scotland's Under-21 side and was called up to Gordon Strachan's full squad in 2013. He has scored six goals for United so far this season.
Celtic have already signed United's Gary Mackay-Steven on a pre-contract agreement in the current transfer window.
