CELTIC will hold the next round of talks with John Guidetti and his agents within two weeks as the Hoops step up their bid to make the striker's loan move permanent.

Hoops boss Ronny Deila has confirmed they have the money to meet Manchester City's demands, reported to be £5million.

"The fee would not be a problem," said the manager. "It is do-able."

But the Swedish striker's wages is another matter, with Deila admitting paying anyone two or three times more than the rest at the club could have a detrimental effect on the harmony of the dressing room.

So, the leverage Celtic will rely on as they try to persuade Guidetti to ignore the more lucrative offers he will receive comes from the fact he is getting regular football, enough to win him promotion to the Swedish national squad - and is idolised by the fans.

Chief executive Peter Lawwell is working behind the scenes to make the deal happen and said: "John has lit up the place and we would like to have him.

"However, he'll be in demand and we are talking to his people.

"Whether he is willing to commit to us now or at the end of the season, I don't know."

Deila can only sit on the sidelines as the negotiations continue, but is confident the club are playing a good game.

He said: "We're doing things in the right way. John is delighted to be here and is having a good time. We will do everything we can to persuade him to stay

"It will be his choice, but we have to think about the interests of the club. It looks very positive and, hopefully, he can continue to show his skills here."

However, Deila explained the Hoops can't wait forever on an answer in case they have to begin looking elsewhere.

"We are looking to build a team, hopefully for the Champions League next season," said the manager. "So there is a time limit."

Guidetti would be Deila's first choice, and hopes the flying start he has made at the club will have convinced him that the Hoops fit him well.

"He needs to be playing regularly," said Deila. "He didn't do that for two years, but has been given the chance here.

"That's important for him, as is being in an environment where he is getting good feedback from everyone around him. He can improve playing each week by being involved in European football and, hopefully, winning things. You have to learn how to win trophies."

Kris Commons is fit to return for today's game against Dundee, but Mikael Lustig will be out for three weeks with a hamstring injury.
