CELTIC'S medical team will today provide Ronny Deila with an update on the condition of five top stars ahead of their Europa League tie against Astra on Thursday.

Emilio Izaguirre -stretchered off after sustaining an ankle injury in a heavy challenge from Ross County's Michael Gardyne at Dingwall on Saturday - is giving most cause for concern.

Mikael Lustig was also substituted in the second half as the Hoops romped to a 5-0 victory.

Stefan Johansen also needed attention for a groin injury picked up in the closing seconds of his man-of-the-match performance.

Deila has already been closely monitoring the progress of James Forrest as the winger reaches the end of his recovery from the hamstring injury which has kept him out since mid-August.

And he is confident Kris Commons - who did not go north after aggravating an injury to a muscle in his posterior in training in midweek - will be fit to play against the Romanians.

But the Parkhead boss would be delighted to be able to count on all five for this week's tie against Astra. Initial reports from the medical staff indicate the Norwegian could get his wish.

Izaguirre had only stepped off another long-haul flight after playing for Honduras just over a day before he crumpled to the deck at Dingwall.

The tackle from former Celt Gardyne saw him clutching an ankle, sparking fears of a recurrence of the damage sustained at Aberdeen in 2011.

But, the left-back was up on his feet by the end of the game, and it is hoped a precautionary X-ray and scans will confirm there is no serious damage.

Deila is hopeful he can make it for Thursday, saying: "We are not sure what is happening with Emilio, but we hope he will be fit."

And the manager said he expects Lustig to also be fit to start because he was removed from the action before he could do any serious damage.

The Swede was starting his first game for the club since damaging a groin against Maribor in August.

Likewise, Deila is keeping his fingers tightly crossed the stoppage-time twist and fall suffered by Johansen, which left him holding his right thigh and groin, will have no lasting effects.

The fact Celtic's game at the weekend kicked off at Saturday lunchtime, and the Europa League games are played on Thursdays, is a bonus because it gives all the walking wounded longer to recover.

And, with Adam Matthews - who came on for Lustig - also approaching full fitness after his time out with a calf injury, while Charlie Mulgrew played the full 90 minutes on his return to action, Deila is finally beginning to see options becoming available to him in key areas of the team.
