CELTIC must restore Fortress Parkhead to its former formidable status if they are to deliver the home run on which Ronny Deila has set his sights.

The stronghold has been breached too often in recent times, especially on European nights, with the Hoops winning just twice and losing the other three of their last five ties played there.

This season, Maribor have joined Barcelona, AC Milan and Juventus in walking away with damaging victories in the past couple of years.

Domestically, Hamilton and Motherwell have hurt the Hoops in front of their disbelieving fans.

Deila is aware home comfort has to be re-established, starting tonight when his Bhoys host the first of four crunch games.

Astra Giurgiu are followed into Paradise by Kilmarnoock on Sunday - by which time Celtic could once again be trailing Hamilton by nine points in the Premiership.

Then it's Partick Thistle who make their way across the city, hoping to knock Celtic out of the League Cup.

The Jags are followed by Inverness, looking to do the double over Deila's Bhoys in this topsy-turvy season.

The manager can point to the victory over Dinamo Zagreb at Parkhead three weeks ago as proof they can make the most of home advantage, even if the performance did not match the result.

But, he is demanding more consistency to build a series of victories.

Deila is using Saturday's demolition of Ross County as the template for what he wants to create, home and away, and has promised Hoops fans they ain't seen nothing yet as he finally gets his message across and his squad back up to something like full strength.

Kris Commons will be given until the last minute to prove his fitness, but Emilio Izaguirre has survived his ankle scare and is available, while Lukasz Zaluska has recovered from his head injury and will take his usual place on the bench.

The manager senses the 5-0 win in Dingwall was a portent of better days to come, and said: "James Forrest is close also to coming back, so we have a lot of competition for places now, and it looks very positive.

"I don't think we have seen the best of them and hope we can see much more from my team.

"We have built up very good team spirit in the games in Europe.

"We work hard and defend quite well. Offensively, we can create more.

"But, in the last few weeks, we've started to do that in Scotland, and I hope we can do that in the Europa League. It's going to be a big test for us tonight."

Deila is not minded to dismiss the threat Astra bring, and said: "We know their last Europa match, against Salzburg, was better than their first against Zagreb.

"Against Salzburg, they were quite even, and Salzburg is a good team, so that proved Astra can make trouble for all the teams in the group.

"If we can win our two games against Astra, it will be fantastic.

"But they are a very good team, and the Europa League is a high level.

"They haven't started as well as they would have wanted, but we know what they are capable of doing.

"If they were playing in the Scottish league, they would be top. But, I know that, if we are at our best, we have a very good chance to win."
