SCOTT BROWN will not have revenge on his mind when he lines up against Inverness Caley on Sunday - since he believes it was referee Steven McLean's fault the Parkhead club are not in the William Hill Scottish Cup final on Saturday week.

The Parkhead side were furious when McLean failed to spot that Josh Meekings had handled a net-bound Leigh Griffiths header when the Hoops led 1-0 just before the interval in the semi-final tie.

Ronny Deila's side lost the game 3-2 after extra time - and Brown is still smarting at the manner of the defeat.

Celtic and Inverness will meet this weekend for the first time since the Hampden clash, but Brown has maintained that his anger is not aimed at the Highlanders or their manager, John Hughes.

"There is no element of revenge, not for me," he said. "It wasn't big Yogi's fault that we lost that game; it was the referee's.

"Fair play to Inverness, because they got the win and we wish them all the very best now for the final against Falkirk.

"We want to win the game on Sunday because we want to finish the season with a win, but it has got nothing to do with the semi-final.

"We want to enjoy the party with the fans, but we want to finish off with a strong performance, too."
