CELTIC want an answer from John Guidetti over his Hoops future within the next three weeks.

But Ronny Deila has not set any deadlines on Kris Commons' contract talks.

The Hoops boss remains hopeful both players will decide they want to be with the Parkhead club long-term.

But, he is only too aware Guidetti and Commons are now free to speak to other clubs as their current contracts run out in the summer.

Negotiations with the players and their representatives are continuing, though Commons has been given leave of absence from the mid-season break to Gran Canaria after the death of an uncle.

Celtic have already agreed terms with Manchester City to make Guidetti's season-long loan transfer permanent.

Personal terms have still to be thrashed out, but Deila is desperate to make the Swede his main striker for the next three or four seasons.

However, if Guidetti is not going to commit to the Hoops, the manager needs to know before this transfer window closes to allow him to look for options.

Asked if he wants an answer now, Deila replied: "Yes, that's important. But we are talking well together, and that is important."

Deila is concerned the speculation over his future is having a negative effect on Guidetti's form.

He hasn't scored for six games and was dropped to the bench for Monday's 2-0 win over Kilmarnock.

Commons returned to the starting line up for that match, and put in a man-of-the-match performance on his first league start since November.

While the manager was delighted by the 31-year-old's display, he is also aware it could attract increased interest from other clubs ready to snap him up as a Bosman.

"Maybe that is true," mused Deila. "But I need performances like that from Kris. Then I am happy. He showed good commitment, especially in the first half, when he played really well.

"If he can get 90 minutes like that, he is going to be an important player for us."

Deila has always maintained he considers Commons a key part of the side he is building, but admitted: "I don't need to know if he is going or staying.

"But I think we will get an agreement before that (the end of the window), whatever is going to happen."

Stefan Scepovic remains the only player Celtic have bought since Deila took over in June.

And the £2.3million striker now has four goals in 17 appearances after poking home Celtic's second at Rugby Park.

Deila believes the slow-starting Serbian is getting to the level required, and said of his Killie showing: "He was okay, and he scored, which is important because he is a goalscorer. Scepo has a good attitude.

"He has been involved in a lot of things when he he has played, and he was again on Monday night. That makes me happy."
