SCOTT BROWN last night signed a four-year contract extension with Celtic - and signalled he's poised to end his career at Parkhead.

The 29-year-old penned the new deal and instantly dashed the hopes of several leading English Premier League clubs said to be weighing up a multi-million pound raid for the Celtic skipper.

Crystal Palace and Fulham were among clubs linked with the midfielder.

And former Parkhead boss Neil Lennon was also watching developments as he looked to strengthen his Bolton side in the January transfer window.

But last night Brown rebuffed all thoughts of moving elsewhere as he signed the deal that will keep him at Celtic until the summer of 2018.

Speaking to the official Celtic website, Brown said: "It's an absolute privilege to extend my contract with Celtic, a brilliant football club and with such incredible supporters.

"This is a place that I call home. Being Celtic captain is a tremendous honour and it is a role which I cherish dearly. The team is in a great place just now and we're all right behind the manager and the backroom team as they build for the future.

"I will do all I can with the manager and all the players at the club to deliver the success which our supporters deserve."

Brown joined Celtic from Hibernian in May 2007, making his debut for the club against Kilmarnock on August 5, and he has gone on to make nearly 300 appearances for the Hoops, scoring 29 goals.

Since then he has led the team to three consecutive league titles. And he's determined to make it four-in-a-row this season under Ronny Deila.

But, as Brown nailed his colours to the Celtic mast, another Parkhead star's future at the club was shrouded in uncertainty.

John Guidetti admitted he is flattered at the interest shown in him by French giants Marseille. The striker has netted nine goals in ten games since clinching a last-gasp loan deal from Manchester City in the summer.

But his fine form has alerted a string of clubs about his talents and availability, with the Ligue 1 outfit the latest to be linked with a swoop.

And the former Feyenoord loan star has not ruled out a return to the Continent.

"Marseille is a beautiful city with an amazing stadium," Guidetti said. "I'm focused on Celtic. My contract expires in June 2015 so I have to continue to play well like I currently am at Celtic.

"It's always nice to hear that clubs monitor you, because it means you're doing a good job."
