IT'S doubtful Celtic will receive a warm welcome in Warsaw after their recent fall-out with Legia over their Champions League qualifier.

But that has not stopped Jason Denayer dreaming of returning to the Polish capital for the Europa League final in May.

It would be the perfect way for the Belgian defender to complete his season-long loan.

And, despite the fact Ronny Deila's side are still reeling from crashing out of the Champions League play-off against Maribor, the teenager believes they can go all the way in this competition.

The first steps to the final will be taken on Thursday in Salzburg, and Denayer said: "Everyone is disappointed about not getting into the Champions League, because all the supporters and all the players wanted to be there.

"But we can't focus on the past. We must concentrate on the Europa League and do all we can do in that competition.

"It all depends on us. If we play to 100% of our ability, we can go to the final. It's about us. Celtic is a big club with high expectations, and we will try to meet them."

Denayer played in the 1-1 draw in Maibor, but was disappointed to be left out for the return, which Celtic lost 1-0.

After scoring his second goal for the club in Saturday's 2-1 win over Aberdeen, he hopes he can retain his place for the match in Austria.

"The coach told me before the Maribor game he was going to put some extra experience in the team," he explained.

"I know I don't have experience like the other defenders here. I sat on the bench and hoped to go on, but I didn't.

"Now I leave the past behind me and move forward and hope to play against Salzburg.

"The Europa League is a big thing for me. There are different styles of player to face, so we have to face different challenges."

With Mikael Lustig, Adam Matthews and Darnell Fisher still injured, Efe Ambrose is expected to be required to continue at right-back, which should see Denayer partnering Virgil van Dijk in the centre.

He said: "I feel very good playing alongside Virgil. He speaks to me a lot and is very calm. When he speaks, it is not aggressively. It is better to speak calmly. We understand each other better that way.

"Virgil is a very good player and I think he can play at the highest level. I'm very happy he stayed at the club."

Van Dijk has now broken into the Dutch squad, and Denayer hopes to follow his example by stepping up from the Belgium Under-21s.

"I hope playing for Celtic can get me into the Belgian squad," he said.

"If I can play regularly for Celtic in the Europa League, that will help me with that objective. But my first objective is to be good for Celtic."
