I WAS interested to read Callum McGregor speak of his embarrassment at the position Celtic find themselves in in the league this week.
I think embarrassing is not a bad word to describe Celtic's start to the season. They have been extremely inconsistent.
Not just their results either. Their performances have been up and down, too. In some games they've been good.
In others they haven't done so well. Callum has, like many young players who break into the Celtic team, been up and down as well.
He caught the eye early on in the campaign, but there was a slight dip in his performance levels after that.
As I say, he is not the only young player that happens to. But I think the rest he got for the internationals did him the power of good.
He looks to have come back refreshed and reinvigorated. McGregor certainly took his goal well in the 5-0 win over Ross County up in Dingwall.
It can't have been easy for a young player like Callum to come in to a Celtic side that has been struggling. But, by and large, he has handled the transition from Notts County, where he was on loan last season, to Celtic well.
Ronny Deila certainly seems to be an admirer as he has picked him a lot - including European matches. Whether he features from the start in the Europa League game against Astra tomorrow night or whether the manager goes for experience remains to be seen.
But his comments about wanting to propel Celtic up the Premiership table show that he has embraced the demands of being a player at the Parkhead club.
