Every manager prefers to buy players outright and develop them for the club's benefit, but there is a place for the loan system. As Ronny assesses what he needs, he's gone down this route.

It worked out well with Fraser Forster, who was at the club on two short-term deals before he signed.

But you have to be careful not to overload your squad with loan players when you are building for the future.
