I thought that Ronny Deila would have been a worthy winner of the Manager of the Year at the SPFA awards dinner last weekend.

That is not to say that I am not happy for John Hughes - Yogi has done well up at Inverness and has the chance to win a trophy with the Highland side so I wish him all the very best and I am sure he would have enjoyed the award.

There seems to be a feeling that because Celtic are expected to win the league that there is not a lot of merit when you actually go and do it.

I thought Ronny said all the right things when he was asked about not receiving the award and he did mention that had he been more impressive in the Champions League qualifiers at the start of the season that may have influenced the voting.

But people tend to overlook the fact that Celtic actually did not do too badly at all in the Europa League once they went in there.

As for the Player of the Year award, again, I would say that Stefan Johansen was a very obvious choice for the manner in which he has adapted to a move offensive role this season and has been so consistent throughout.

To me, though, Craig Gordon should have been the Player of the Year for the manner in which he has come back from effectively been out of the game entirely to getting himself back to the top level and involved in international football once more.
