ROY Hodgson will name his 23-man squad for the World Cup a week today and while he is in the fortunate position of having four quality keepers to choose from Joe Hart is a certain pick and first choice.

However, there is little to choose between the other three contenders - Ben Foster, John Ruddy and Fraser Forster.

Foster and Ruddy may have been performing at a higher level than their Parkhead glove-rival in the English Premier League this season, but neither has competed in the Champions League or been under the pressure of playing for a club as big as Celtic.

Forster has written his name in the history books this term and produced a string of superb performances for Neil Lennon's side while once again showing improvements in his all round game.

At 26, he is the youngest of the quartet and could well be a future No.1 for the Three Lions so should be given the nod for Brazil to gain experience on the international stage.

MANCHESTER City's Joe Hart will be one of the first names booked for a seat on the plane to Brazil this summer, but there is still plenty of doubt over which two other keepers will join the England No.1 at the World Cup.

Having worked with Ben Foster at West Brom, boss Roy Hodgson is likely to name the 31-year-old as his second choice.

It will then come down to John Ruddy and Fraser Forster for the final goalie slot and it is the Norwich City man who should be Brazil bound in a couple of weeks.

Forster's record-breaking heroics may have helped Celtic to the Premiership title, but he has hardly been tested at times, while Ruddy is under constant bombardment at Norwich and has shown up well for the Canaries, despite their relegation dogfight.

It would be hard on Forster for him to miss out, but the standard of the game in Scotland is likely to count against him come the final cut.
