GORDON STRACHAN will be delighted to end the 2014 sector of our Euro qualifying campaign with a win to take us level with the Republic of Ireland.

It puts Scotland in a strong position ahead of our next game, against Gibraltar in March, then the trip to Dublin.

Winning our home games is going to be paramount in this campaign, and we have now taken six points from six, despite having to play away from Hampden.

It doesn't matter where the matches are staged, so long as the Tartan Army is there to back Scott Brown and his team-mates.

Last night's game was so important, and it completely overshadowed the friendly against England on Tuesday.

Any match against the Auld Enemy is important, but, on this occasion, it can actually be enjoyed for what it is - a non-competitive match.

On second thoughts, forget that. It's England - and we want to win.
