TEEMU Pukki may have ended his scoring drought with the only goal of the game against Hibs at Parkhead, but the Finnish striker has still to convince the supporters he is the man to lead the line.

I would like to see the 23-year-old given an extended run to give him the chance to become a regular scorer

Pukki has suffered from not getting a full pre-season under his belt, and has been playing catch-up in terms of his fitness.

His confidence levels and his sharpness, which is an important quality in every position on the park, but especially when you are a striker, have suffered.

But, having said that, it is now December. Not having a pre-season can no longer be used as an excuse.

Hopefully, though, Neil Lennon will give the player a run in the team either alongside Anthony Stokes or up front by himself.

Kris Commons, who prefers to play just off the striker, has been by far the most consistent forward at Celtic this season.

Playing Commons just behind Pukki is an option, but Lennon is not exactly spoiled for choice with the injuries he has at the moment.

Much was expected of Amido Balde after he scored against Partick Thistle but he has not really pushed on from there, so hopefully Pukki can do so in the weeks and months to come.
