Who is the toughest opponent you played against?
Johan Cruyff. I played against him when Celtic played Ajax in season 1970-71 in the quarter-final of the European Cup. They beat us 3-0 in the first-leg over there and I had a torrid time against him. I also played against him for Scotland when we met Holland and he was just an outstanding player. Incredibly difficult to play against.
