NEW Bhoys Virgil van Dijk and Amido Balde are gearing up to give Celtic fans their first look at them in the Hoops tonight in Germany.

Neil Lennon's recruits have cost £4.6million – and the manager is not finished buying yet.

He wants to get his new signings in as quickly as possible to ensure they are integrated before the opening Champions League qualifier game against Cliftonville on July 17.

Balde and van Dijk got a run out in Saturday's closed-door game at Lennoxtown against Crewe.

But tonight's opening tour tie against Ukraine side Sevastopol – which is being screened live on Celtic TV and subscription satellite channel Premier Sports – will be the public debut for the pair.

And Dutch defender van Dijk admits he can't wait to get going and show the fans what he's worth.

The 21-year-old from FC Groningen aims to make the most of the four games in 10 days during their fortnight in Germany.

He explained: "Two weeks is a long time, but this trip will help me learn about my team-mates.

"I will see how they play and find out what they are like off the field as well, which will be good."

Van Dijk admits it has all been a blur since he put pen to paper on a four-year deal 12 days ago and continued: "It's very hard to move to another club.

"I can still fly home (to Holland from Glasgow) in an hour. But the language is new, the people, everything."

Van Dijk has looked good in the time he has been working with his new team-mates, and is relishing the programme laid out by the club to get everyone in peak condition as quickly as possible.

He said: "I'm used to doing a lot of running in pre-season, but I'm enjoying the fact we're doing a lot of work with the ball.

"It's hard work, but it's good. I'm not top-fit right now, but I'm getting there."

Van Dijk revealed he is in better shape to cope with this pre-season than the one he suffered with Groningen 12 months ago.

"Last year was very bad for me because I had an injury towards the end of the previous season," he told the club's website.

"I'd just come back, so pre-season was very tough.

"I had something wrong with my stomach, abdominal pains, on April 1.

"I was in hospital for 10 days, so it was hard to recover from it in the summer. Everything is good now, though."

Meanwhile, Cardiff are still considering the revised package they want to present to Celtic as they bid to win the race to sign £12m-rated midfielder, Victor Wanyama.
