Fras the main star in team of standouts

FORSTER (9) It was always going to be a busy evening for the keeper and he made a string of jaw-dropping saves.Pick of the bunch was a low stop from Lionel Messi to strengthen his case for a place in the England squad.

LUSTIG (7) Preferred to Adam Matthews at right-back as he is a more natural defensive player and justified selection.

AMBROSE (8) Defended solidly and was a huge plus for Neil Lennon.

WILSON (7) Had to perform at the top of his game and impressed beside Ambrose.

IZAGUIRRE (7) It has taken him a while to get back to his best but he was more than up to speed here and played an important part in what was a terrific defensive display.

BROWN (7) Played through the pain barrier for an hour but his hip injury was always going to make the 90 minutes unlikely.

WANYAMA (7) Has everything – pace, power and he can play. It was a hard shift for him in the engine room but he stuck to the task well.

LEDLEY (8) Gives Celtic a bit of edge in the middle of the park and was forever snapping at the ankles of his gifted opponents.

MULGREW (7) The defender was once again deployed wide on the left of midfield and it is a position he can now play well as he provided Izaguirre with good defensive cover. Tried to get forward when it was on.

SAMARAS (5) Was involved in helping his team take the lead when his header cannoned off Javier Mascherano and into the back of the net. But he fell awkwardly on an ankle minutes before the interval and had to be replaced by James Forrest. HOOPER (7) Was left with the difficult task of leading the line on a night when he was never going to see a lot of the ball. Tried his best and dropped back at times to assist his team-mates.

FORREST (6) Replaced Samaras just before half-time and when he had the chance he got running at the Barca defence.

COMMONS (5) Took over from Scott Brown but it wasn't a game that was likely to bring out the best in him as it was all about defending for the final 30 minutes.

KAYAL (5) Not involved long enough to make a telling contribution.
