JONATHAN GOULD is relishing the chance to turn the clock back to the golden era of his career tomorrow.

The Scotland international goalkeeper spent six memorable seasons at Paradise, playing his part in winning two SPL titles and three League Cups.

Signed by Wim Jansen from Bradford in 1997, Gould conceded just 26 goals in his first season at Parkhead and made more than 150 appearances for the Hoops before leaving for Preston North End in 2003.

The London-born shot-stopper played for 10 clubs and won two Scotland caps but says his time in Glasgow was the highlight of his playing career.

And now Gould, 46, currently goalkeeping coach at Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand, is thrilled to be stepping on to the Parkhead turf again in the Maestrio charity match against Rio Ferdinand's all-star side which includes Paul Scholes, Gianfranco Zola and Andy Cole.

"Being at Celtic was the pinnacle of my career," he said. "When you play for a club like this and you spend six years there, you leave because you want to play football in the first team as I did at Preston. But you quickly think to yourself, 'Why have I left?'

"You get an initial relief because of the pressure on you as a player at a club like Celtic. But as you get older and get to my stage where you are coaching, you would love to turn the clock back and do six years, then another six years."

Recalling previous meetings with some of the men he faces tomorrow, Gould said: "Scholes smashed one past me for Man United against Coventry. In the same game, I went to do a diving header to clear a ball over the top, missed it and Andy Cole rolled the ball in to make it 3-2!"

For the former Scotland keeper the match at Parkhead is of course not the only game worth talking about this weekend.

The man capped against Lithuania and Australia reckons Celtic keeper Craig Gordon has the ability to halt Germany for Scotland in Dortmund. He said: "Craig has got the ability for a big guy but when you are playing against a team of Germany's level, it is not about being 6ft 4in, it's about being able to make the reaction saves."

Tickets for the Maestrio match, kick-off 2pm tomorrow, are still available. Further information at www.celticfc.net.
