CELTIC may face more fall-out from last night's 6-2 pre-season warm up defeat to Greuther Furth in Germany.

Hoops keeper Fraser Forster appeared to limp off at half-time and was replaced by Lukasz Zaluska. New signing Virgil van Dijk also stayed inside for the second half after receiving treatment for a leg knock midway through the opening 45 minutes following a heavy block tackle to prevent a goal.

And trialist Steven Mouyokolo, who is still trying to prove he is fully recovered from a cruciate knee injury to win a 12-month contract with the Parkhead club, was also withdrawn after going down with no-one near him.

With captain Scott Brown and defender Adam Matthews yet to play any of the warm-up games as they recover from injuries picked up at the end of last season, and Victor Wanyama, who, along with Gary Hooper, did not figure in last night's line-up or on the subs' bench, the last thing Lennon needs just a week before they play their opening Champions League qualifier against Cliftonville are players picking up knocks.

The heavy defeat against the side that finished bottom of the Bundesliga was a setback to Celtic's preparations for the first-leg tie in Belfast.

But losing players would be much more of a blow – especially anyone as pivotal as Forster, a star in last season's run to the last 16 of the Champions League.

The Englishman was out for three weeks in January with a neck and back injury picked up during the mid-season break in Spain.

But Forster recovered in time to face Juventus in the last-16 tie in February.

Celtic have one more game before they travel to face Cliftonville, against Union Berlin on Friday night.

And with just days before the vital qualifier, no chances will be taken with Forster or any of the other players carrying knocks.

But Lennon will be keen to get some more game time into as many fully fit players as possible and will look for a significant improvement on last night's performance.

Meanwhile, Hoops fans have discovered they will have to wait a few more hours before they get the chance to see the club unfurl the championship flag.

The opening game of their defence of the title, against Ross County at Parkhead on August 3, has been put back until 5.15pm at the request of TV.

The champions then have a weekend off to go to Dublin to play Liverpool.

When they get back into league action, their game against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on August 17 has been moved to 12.30pm.

Finally, the game at Tannadice on August 31 will now kick off at 12.45pm.
