Not since the 1968/69 season have the Hoops still been involved in every one of the tournaments they had entered when the campaign kicked off.

Wins over Spartak Moscow and Arbroath ensured Neil Lennon's team progressed in the Champions League and Scottish Cup respectively.

They are currently top of the SPL and are in the semi-final of the League Cup.

The last occasion that was the case was when Jock Stein was the manager in 1969.

In 2003, Martin O'Neill's team was still involved in the league, League Cup, Scottish Cup and Uefa Cup.

However, Celtic had initially gone into the Champions League; they were knocked out in qualifying by FC Basel.

In 1969, Celtic lost in the quarter-finals of the European Cup to AC Milan, but went on to win the domestic Treble.

Stein's side had been due to play Hibs in the final of the League Cup in late 1968.

However, a fire at Hampden in October destroyed the offices and one of the dressing-rooms and forced the final to be postponed until the following spring.

They beat Rangers 4-0 in front of 132,000 fans in the Scottish Cup f inal in April with Stevie Chalmers, George Connelly, Bobby Lennox and Billy McNeill all getting on the scoresheet.
