INTER MILAN could be set for a stunning swoop on Europa League foes Celtic to land star striker John Guidetti after his old boss Roberto Mancini was promised a winter transfer market windfall.

The Hoops will play the San Siro cracks in February in the Last 32 clash in Europe.

Inter are desperate for new reinforcements after languishing in mid-table in Serie A and manager and former Manchester City boss Mancini has been promised substantial investment.

Now reports in Italy have revealed he's targeted Celtic's City on-loan scoring sensation Guidetti.

Guidetti was handed his chance in the first team at Eastlands by Mancini, after he was signed by Sven-Goran Eriksson.

And although he loaned him out several times, he also handed him a bumper new three-year deal at City in 2012 and is a big fan of the 22-year-old talent.

Now he could target the Swedish hitman after been given the green light to spend money.

Inter's technical director Piero Aid said: "We will try to do whatever we can to assist the manager in the transfer window.

"There are possibilities around with players who may be available to us.

"We all know the squad needs improved."
