GORDON (6) Badly exposed by his defence who stood idle for first two goals while Alan capitalised.

Produced a stunning save to keep out a Martin Hinteregger header. Couldn't do anything about third.

MATTHEWS (5) Provided width in the second half as Celtic chased an equaliser.

IZAGUIRRE (4) Swung in a great low cross for Stefan Johansen to cut the deficit. Struggled for the first half an hour.

AMBROSE (3) At centre-half with Van Dijk, was all at sea for all three of Salzburg's goals while his distribution was hit or miss. The usual flashes of composure interspersed with calamity.

VAN DIJK (5) Improved after an early wobble. Was sent forward at set-pieces without much joy.

BROWN (5) Took until after the break before the combative captain made his presence felt. A calm head in a frantic and packed midfield.

STOKES (4) Playing on the left, the Irishman was as anonymous as he has been in a Celtic shirt for some time during the first half. Improved slightly after the break before being hooked with 23 minutes to go.

MULGREW (4) Was run off his feet as he tried in vain to protect his back four. Taken off after a knock on 74 minutes.

JOHANSEN (6) Part of a midfield that struggled to get to grips with their opponents early on. Provided an instinctive and excellent finish from 16 yards to bring Celtic back into the game. Ran tirelessly throughout to try and salvage result.

GRIFFITHS (5) On for his first start in a green and white shirt since August. Was often left isolated early on before emerging as a danger late on. Fizzed a shot just wide from 25 yards and a header saved by Gulacsi.

McGREGOR (3) Went down looking for a penalty on 15 minutes but it was never going to be given. His contribution not what we've come to expect before substituted midway through the second half.

FORREST (3) (on for McGregor 67) More direct than McGregor.

COMMONS (2) (on for Stokes 67) Hardly touched the ball.

TONEV (2) (on for Mulgrew 74) Struggled to get involved.
