Celtic midfielder Kris Commons believes that tomorrow night's game against Dundee United is as big as Sunday's QTS League Cup Final against Jackie McNamara's side.

Ronny Deila won his first trophy as Celtic manager with a comfortable win over the Tannadice outfit but the team square up to one another once more tomorrow night.

It is the third in a series of four consecutive games against Dundee United and Commons has told his Parkhead team-mates that they need to treat this game with the same reverence that they did the Cup Final.

Tomorrow's game is for a place in the Scottish Cup semi-final after the first meeting between the teams ended in a draw.

And Commons wants to see the same application against McNamara's side as Celtic fight for a domestic Treble.

"We have the Scottish Cup replay against Dundee United tomorrow night," said Commons. "It is a big game for us now on Wednesday because it is a game that could determine whether or not we can go on and do the Treble.

"There are many teams who have done the Double but we want to make a little bit of history on our own - and in that respect it means that tomorrow's game against United is as big as the game we had on Sunday.

"It was great to get that win on Sunday and it was special for me because I have never won the League Cup in my time here. So it was good fun and in terms of this season, it was the first box ticked.

" We know that we still have work to do in the league because Aberdeen are still close enough to us to feel that there is hope so we know that over the next few months we need to strive for complete consistency in the league.

"But before that we have to think seriously about Dundee United again. Tomorrow night's game is massive for us because we want that place in the semi-final to keep our ambitions alive."

And Commons has insisted that Celtic are not quite fed up of lining up against United.

This is the third game in ten days between the teams but given the way the games have gone, the Hoops attacker believes that it is Celtic who go into the encounters more upbeat.

"We aren't sick of the sight of them - but they might be sick of the sight of us!" he grinned.

"We are maybe able to shake things up a little bit more.

"I certainly think that Sunday will have whet the appetite for all of us in terms of wanting to enjoy more silverware this season."
