The Parkhead club remain in pole position in the championship race after an emphatic 4-0 win at Tynecastle in one of their most dominant domestic displays of the season.

It came on the back of one of their poorest performances when they went down 1-0 at home to Inverness Caley Thistle on Saturday, and Commons hopes Neil Lennon's side can now build on the win and move through the gears in pursuit of a second consecutive SPL title.

The Scotland internationalist said: "It was a very good victory for us and I thought we performed really well throughout the match last night.

"It was a good victory for us and probably just what we needed after the weekend. We are still top of the table and we are aiming to kick on from here in the league.

"Obviously our performances haven"t been as consistent as we would have hoped for, especially at home. However, hopefully we can now begin to put that right and string a good run of results together. That is the target for us now.

"We managed to get the first goal but kept things going. To go in 3-0 ahead at the interval at Tynecastle is great because we managed to silence their supporters.

"We kept at it and got a fourth to finish off what was a good night's work.

"Big Fraser Forster deserves a special mention. We scored four goals but he was outstanding yet again at the other end with a string of crucial saves as well as a penalty save."

Commons, who had a hand in Celtic's first two goals, added: "Now we have a Scottish Cup game with Arbroath to prepare for before we take on Spartak Moscow in the Champions League.

"So it would be nice if we can maintain this form moving forward."
