Neil Lennon will look to add a striker in the January transfer window.

And the Celtic manager has revealed the club could "push the boat out" in their bid to find a bit of quality for the squad.

But while Lennon would love to bring in a finished article, he knows Celtic will be unable to deviate greatly from their financial budget.

Yet he says the club is ready to go the extra mile to bring in a player who can make an immediate contribution.

Lennon said: "If we do break the wage structure it will not be by a great deal or a considerable margin but if we are trying to bring a type of player in we might have to push the boat out a little.

"We do not want to push it out too much. We are realistic with our wage structure.

"I do not know how much money we will have again in January but Peter has given us assurances that there will be money to spend.

"Whether we can spend it and get the right player in that we want is another thing.

"It's players under the radar with the quality that we can maybe snatch away for two or three million.

"They might be there. You might get a finished article for £2m or £3m you never know.

"We will shop around and look away but it is not just centre forwards there are other areas we want to improve on."

Having lost Gary Hooper in the summer, Lennon brought in Amido Balde and Teemu Pukki, but while Lennon believes both players have the potential to make a name for themselves at the club, they are not yet the finished article.

The club were foiled in various bids to bring in other strikers and Lennon is well aware bringing in any striker of repute is costly.

"That is where the big bucks are," he said. "That is where players cost money. Again, we will try to be inventive on that.

"I think that in Pukki we have a player who will score goals. He needs a bit of time to settle to the game.

"But he has shown more indication now that he is getting used to playing the style of football here.

"I have four strikers and they are strikers I want to persevere with, and I will."

However, he admits having a player who could make an immediate contribution and impact would be a massive lift.

"That would be lovely," he smiled. "It would be very helpful as well but I have players here that you have the potential to improve and score at that level and at the moment we will work away with them."
