FRASER FORSTER has been given the nod to take over from Joe Hart as England's No.1.

Unfortunately for the keeper, the seal of approval has not come from Roy Hodgson - yet - but from Celtic team-mate, Adam Matthews.

The Hoops defender believes Forster's form should make him the man to play for World Cup-bound England, who face Chile tomorrow.

Matthews said: "Fraser has shown over the last couple of years, especially in the Champions League, that he deserves a chance.

"He's probably been our best player, and, hopefully, he can get his chance and take it."

Asked who he would choose between Hart and Forster, Matthews had no hesitation replying: "I'd have to say Fraser.

"He's been so consistent since I've been here and has kept us in games we really shouldn't have won."

Matthews believes Joe Ledley has also been very important to Celtic's success, and hopes his countryman will remain at the club after his current contract runs out in the summer.

He said: "Joe would be a massive loss, but everyone at the club is still hoping he will sign a new deal.

"He hasn't come out and said he doesn't want to sign, so, hopefully, they can come to some kind of agreement and he can stay here.

"He's shown over the last couple of years he's a great player for us and probably our most consistent."

Matthews was speaking at the announcement of improved facilities for disabled supporters at Celtic Park.

New elevated viewing platforms in both the South East and North West quadrants will accommodate both home and away supporters, while a new social area will also be created for use by disabled fans prior to the match and at half-time.
