NIR BITTON established himself as a first team regular at Celtic this season - and helped the Parkhead club enjoy success domestically and in Europe.

The Israeli internationalist, who signed from Ashdod in his homeland for £1 million two years ago, played in over 40 games for the Glasgow club in all competitions.

The all-action midfielder was an important player in the League Cup and SPFL Premiership triumphs as well as in a memorable Europa League campaign.

However, the 23-year-old is not, as Ronny Deila's side edge ever close to the presentation of the league trophy, basking in the glory of those achievements.

Bitton today revealed he is already looking to develop further as a professional in the 2015/16 campaign and help the Hoops perform even better as a team.

"I try to improve and add things to my game every day," he told SportTimes. "It is the reason why I train so hard.

"It is also the reason why I signed for Celtic. This is the best stage for me to improve as a player.

"Yes, it was a good season for me, but I want to continue. I don't want to stop here.

"I have a lot of dreams in football that I want to make happen and I believe that I can fulfil them here."

Bitton, brought to Scotland by former manager Neil Lennon back in 2013, struggled to hold down a place in his debut season due to injuries and unconvincing form.

But he has put that frustrating spell firmly behind him, formed a good understanding with captain Scott Brown and impressed many supporters.

The season got off to a difficult start for him and his team mates as Deila, recruited from Stromsgodset in his native Norway, struggled to get to grips with his new role.

The Scottish champions were beaten by Legia Warsaw and, after the Poles had been kicked out of the competition for fielding an ineligible player, NK Maribor in the Champions League form.

The Hoops also suffered disappointing results against clubs like Dundee, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Motherwell and Hamilton in the league.

But, slowly but surely, Deila settled in his new surroundings and performances and results picked up.

Celtic defeated Dundee United to win the League Cup, won the Premiership with three games to spare and progressed to the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Biton became an integral part of the revival under the Scandinavian coach and is pleased he managed to turn things around and silence the sceptics.

But he admitted the defeat to NK Maribor - who they had drawn 1-1 with over in Slovenia - and the failure to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages still rankled.

And he also confessed the Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Inverness Caledonian Thistle - which denied them the chance to land a Treble - still stuck in his throat.

The 6ft 5in star reckons there is room for improvement and has identified how Celtic can trump their achievements when the

He said: "I think it was an excellent season. Any time you win the double and get into the knockout stages of the Europa League it is an excellent season.

"If we had been able to win the Treble it would have been an even better season. But it was still excellent.

"We managed to do it by playing good football. We improved as a team as the season went on. We became a very strong and hard-working team.

"I think everybody in the side improved themselves as players as well. The new players who came in all showed what they could do. We all played a part.

"I think we have the talent in the squad to do a lot of things next year as well. First of all, we want to go to the Champions League group stages.

"We also want to go on and win the league, reach finals and do better than we did this year and we are all confident that we can."

Bitton only netted two goals all season - against St Johnstone back in August and a 30 yard screamer in a 5-0 victory over Dundee at the start of this month.

He feels that he can contribute more in the final third of the park and stressed he would be working hard in order to sharpen up his finishing.

He said: "I can always improve, always get better. I can help the team score more goals in the future. I try hard every day to be a success and help the team be a success."
