FORMER Hoops hero Paolo Di Canio last night resigned as manager of Swindon Town.

In a statement, the fiery Italian cited "a number of broken promises" amid continued uncertainty over the League One club's ownership.

The ex-striker stated earlier this month he was considering his position following Matt Ritchie's sale to Bournemouth.
